When Mobile Link + Fall Detection arrives, charge it and power it on, then make a test call and check its location in Orion.
To charge, plug the charging cradle into the wall and rest Mobile Link + Fall Detection on the cradle with the lanyard at the top of the cradle near the charging cord and the status lights down near the light on the bottom of the cradle.
The red battery light will flash every 2 seconds while Mobile Link + Fall Detection is charging. When Mobile Link + Fall Detection is fully charged, the red battery light will be solid red. You can remove it from the cradle when fully charged.
If Mobile Link + Fall Detection is powered off, press and hold the power button on the left side of the device. All four lights will turn on for 8 seconds, and then the blue call light will flash every 5 seconds, indicating it is working normally. As GPS gains connection, the blue GPS light will flash every 1 second, and then turn off when the signal is acquired. When WiFi signal is being acquired, the blue WiFi light will flash every 5 seconds. The WiFi light will be off when WiFi is not in use.
When Mobile Link + Fall Detection is powered on and ready for use, the blue call light will flash every 5 seconds.
Once Mobile Link + Fall Detection is fully charged and powered on, you can test it by pressing the call button until the call light is solid blue. You will be connected with an emergency care specialist. Tell the specialist right away that you are testing the unit so no emergency help is sent. While on the call, walk around the home with the Mobile Link + Fall Detection to confirm adequate cell signal.
You can also test that Mobile Link + Fall Detection locates on the Orion dashboard. Place Mobile Link + Fall Detection outside or in a window with a clear view of the sky to ensure that it can get a strong GPS signal. Once Mobile Link + Fall Detection is in view of the sky, log in to orion.freeus.com/customer and click Find on the dashboard. You should see the correct location. The GPS in Mobile Link + Fall Detection works best outdoors. When GPS signals aren’t available, WiFi and cellular triangulation can be used to locate the device.
To test fall detection technology in Mobile Link + Fall Detection, drop the unit onto your lap or a cushion from a height of 1-2 feet. The device should automatically dial the monitoring center. When the specialist answers, be sure to tell them you are testing.
